We have all heard that within a committed relationship, we should love the other, "in sickness and in health." But, what happens when mental illness enters the equation? This course is meant to offer tools to therapists to assist couples to more effectively navigate relationship issues when one or both experience symptoms of mental illness. Objectives include: • Identify effective communication strategies (including what not to say) • recognize when additional resources are needed to address issues in the relationship • recognize the importance of self care as a necessary tool within a successful relationship • identify when a relationship may not be able to be salvaged
