1.5 Hours Group Counseling for Chemical Dependence

1.5 hour course as a recorded session if you pass the post-test following the course video content you will receive a the certificate of completion. This will be emailed to you within 10 minutes after passing the post-test. Content Areas: Addiction Group Counseling Group Counseling for Chemical Dependence This training is to increase counselors’ ability to structure group sessions in a way that increases efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining their proper focus. Participants will also increase their understanding of the counselor's role when facilitating a CD group and learn specific strategies to aid clients in processing and coping with uncomfortable emotions. Learning Goals/Outcomes: 1. Learn the importance of group rules and consistent enforcement of them to protect the group from distractions. 2. Develop the ability to structure a group where the counselor gives way to group members for feedback to one other, therefore decreasing dependence on the counselor. 3. Develop the ability to help clients identify and process uncomfortable emotions that were previously avoided by drinking and using, while being mindful of scope of practice.
